Welcome to theDaddy.Guide’s Baby Jogger City Tour Review. This compact yet durable stroller proves you can’t judge something’s functionality by its size! In this case, smaller and lightweight is better!
After seeing the popularity of Babyzen Yoyo and Mountain Buggy Nano, Baby Jogger decided also to come up a super compact model called City Tour. This model has a very compact one-hand fold and meets carry-on requirements so you cant take it on board of any air plane.
It weighs only 14 lbs, but is sturdy enough to accommodate a child up to 45 lbs. The seat is roomy with a deep recline that is suitable from 6 months. There is no travel system option so there is no way to use it from birth. The side barriers are not bad and offer support.
Baby Jogger is known for large canopies and City Tour has a very decent size UV 50+ three-panel canopy with a pop-out sun visor and a peekaboo window. Tall single handle bar makes it easy to push with one hand. The maneuverability is very good on flat surface. The wheels are single, but decent size 5″ and 6″. It also features auto lock, and standing fold. All this for a very reasonable price of $159.99 on Amazon!
There were a few things I didn’t like, one being lack of storage. The basket is small and hard to access. There are no additional pockets and due to the strollers light weight it won’t support heavy bags hanging off the handles. I draped a diaper bag over a handle and I kept feeling like the stroller might tip. If I’m going to nit-pick, another thing that would be nice is a shoulder strap connected to the stroller. It comes with a backpack style storage bag, but I’m not a big fan of jamming a stroller in a carry bag, that or I’m just lazy.
Bottom line, for $199.00 there is A LOT to like about Baby Jogger City Tour, and I’m a big fan.
Daddy 5 Point Review
Delivered in its collapsed form, all you have to do once this strolling delight arrives is open and attach the wheels. Then you’re on the go. In the box comes the assembled chassis, seat cover and hood. The City Tour rucksack carrier and an instruction manual. I set this baby up in 5 minutes without opening the manual, but I also got a B+ in 10th grade geometry. So I had that going for me.
The City Tour is pretty much the epitome of sleek, slender and travel ready. Available colors are Garnet, Violet, Juniper, Onyx and Cobalt.
Ease of Opening and Closing
The City Tour is fold-able with one hand. You press a big handlebar button to fold it forward. Then you press a red safety button under the seat, which allows you to lift the in-seat fold strap to finish the fold. Baby Jogger is know for it’s compact fold, and the City Tour measures an impressive 56x25x45cm.
If you’re looking for one of the smallest compact folds, theDaddy.Guide has the Babyzen Yoyo as our highest rated compact stroller. There you can see the Yoyo fold comes in at (52x44x18cm), just a tad smaller. Not to worry for the Baby Jogger fans, the City Tour still corresponds to the exact dimensions currently allowed on numerous airlines! One thing to note regarding the City Tour is that the strap needs a bit of a tug to complete the fold, the promo videos make it look slightly easier than in real life. All things considered, still relatively easy and satisfying. See below for the size comparison for the Babyzen Yoyo and the Baby Jogger City Tour. Pretty close!
Unfolding needs to be done with two hands. You release the safety catch and then unfold the chassis and hood. If you’re the zen master stroller unfolder, you might be able to unfold with one hand, alas, I was not.
At only 14.21 pounds yet holding up to 45 of them, this is pretty much the wizard of strollers. Its EVA wheels, foot break and one-hand fold makes this high-class carriage on wheels reliable in multiple scenarios, and versatile for countless settings. The Baby Jogger City Tour is also a pleasure to push. Solid steering and quite easy to control with one hand. I wasn’t sure how it would hold up on uneven roads, sidewalks etc… but it was surprisingly smooth and exceeded my expectations. The front wheel swivel is secure and comes with the option of locking them.
