Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Stroller Review
Welcome to theDaddy.guide’s Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Stroller Review. There’s no way to review the top strollers on the market and not look at The Bugaboo Cameleon 3. Simply put, you get what you pay for and with the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Stroller. You pay a lot, and you get a lot. The engineering of the stroller allows for maneuverable that you won’t see from a lot of other manufacturers. Additionally, swapping out car seats, the bassinet, and the stroller seat are super easy and you can feel the quality when you ‘click’ in. For a luxury stroller with all this versatility, it weighs in considerably lighter than some if it’s competitors. Bottom line is that this stroller is constructed well, it’s functional, and it will last a LONG time.
This has to be the easiest stroller to reverse the bassinet or seat. Instead of reversing the seat or bassinet, all you have to do is move the handle bar to the other side of the stroller, literally takes a few seconds. Another feature we like is the stroller can also be converted into two wheel mode which allows you to pull the stroller vs. pushing it. TheDaddy.Guide team is based in Miami Beach, so you can imagine this comes in handy here!
The Bugaboo not only packs on the features, but it also brings a reputation of style and good looks.
Daddy 5-Point Review
Assembly
Strap on your thinking cap. Unfortunately there are a lot of parts and you’ll need to carve out some time to lay out all the pieces, read the manual and assemble everything from the frame, wheels, canopy, bassinet, undercarriage, etc… All in all it took me about 20 minutes to unpack and put it together. Not my favorite, but all worth it in the end!
The Look
Stepping away from functionality for a moment, the Cameleon 3 is good looking! A big part of the appeal to this stroller is design, clean lines, aesthetics and colors and materials. There is something to be said about the look and feel of a product and the Cameleon 3 brings both. Take a look at a few images below to see color options, with and without bassinet, stroller seats and stroller seat with sun canopy.
Ease of opening and Closing
The good thing about the Cameleon 3 is that it folds into a very compact size. The not so good thing is that you have to remove the seat in order to fold it and it requires both hands to do so. Credit to Bugaboo for not making this process too difficult, however.
Functionality
The maneuverability of this stroller is one of the best on the market! It comes with all-terrain foam-filled 12″ rear wheels and adjustable front-wheel suspension which provides a smooth ride for the passenger and the person pushing it. The unique feature of the Cameleon 3 is that you have the option to reverse the handlebar vs. reversing the seat or bassinet (which you can do also of course) and you now have the larger 12″ inch rear wheels in front. I personally like the maneuverability of the stroller better with the smaller wheels in front, but you know have the option of reversing your child’s seat position in seconds… pretty cool. You also get the Bugaboos TWO WHEEL mode setup by removing the smaller front wheels and you can now “pull” the stroller over rough terrain also know as the beach :).
Features
Modular – A very functional 3-in-1 design allows for car seats, a reversible bassinet and a reversible seat.
Bassinet – The bassinet comes with a carry handle (love that – see image below). The bassinet has a built in aerated seat inlay.
Sunshade – The canopy protects the head area and it comes with a zippered cover to protect the babies lower half from the sun too.
The seat – The seat is removed by pressing a large square button on both sides of the stroller which is super smooth and easy. The seat is easy to lift and do a complete 180 degree turn and attaches securely depending on which direction you’d like your child to sit. Once clipped in there are 3 reclining positions. The entire seat moves as one piece vs. just the lower portion when the knees bend. TheDaddy.Guide loves this feature as your kid can knock out fully reclined! Again, as your baby gets older, the seat is reversible when you want them to start facing outward.
The Wheels – The wheels are foam filled to protect against punctures. The suspension is adjustable and has four settings. The swivel wheels can be locked but in the unlocked position they make the Bugaboo Cameleon Stroller very maneuverable. A lot of strollers tend to have difficulty with the locking mechanism with sticking and wearing down, the Bugaboo swivel lock is Daddy approved!
The Handlebar – The handlebar is reversible which benefits urban dwellers or suburban and country folks. Reversing the handlebar allows you to push the stroller in reverse. Most of the time the large wheels in back are the most functional setup, but in a matter of seconds you can switch the direction of the stroller (and the way your child is facing), which can come in handy. See picture below.
Also located on the handlebar is the parking brake which is very unique to the Bugaboo. This is a convenient function, it would be more convenient if it were on a convertible stroller that had a piggy board as my son loves to hit the foot break while riding… but we can always bring that up to them at the ABC expo!
The handlebar on the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Stroller is height adjustable and can extend by 8 inches. Not as simple as pushing a button to adjust, but it requires you to adjust ‘friction knobs’ on either side of the handlebar.

Reversible handlebar -brings big wheels in front
Two Wheel Position – The Bugaboo Cameleon switches easily from four wheels to two which allows you to pull not push when traveling over sand or snow.
Adjustable suspension – The ideal wheel suspension based on the weight of the infant or toddler which allows the little ones to experience optimal comfort. See manufacturer details for specifications.
