Welcome to theDaddy.Guide’s 2016 Maclaren Twin Triumph Stroller Review. If you’re contemplating a double stroller, kudos to you for having 2 kids under 5 and carrying the double load! Nothing makes the crazy go away, but hopefully the right double stroller can make it a little easier.
If you’re interested in the Maclaren Twin Triumph, you may want to check out our review of the single version under ‘umbrella strollers’ for the Maclaren Triumph as a lot of the features are the same (minus being a double stroller of course).
If you’re looking for a high quality double umbrella stroller that looks nice but might not have all the latest bells and whistles, the Twin Triumph may be an option. Consider your needs. From my experience, the twin Triumph has good looks and descent functionality. I mean, if you want a basic stroller that gets the job done and is relatively light weight, you can definitely get away with it.
The lightweight Twin Triumph does have some great features going for it that I really like, such as two large waterproof canopies that block the sun well, extra storage pockets, and comfortable reclinable seats. On the downside, you might pick a fight or two with the buckle and the harness! The buckle gets stiff sometimes and the harness does not adjust very easily. As for the wheels, not your best option if you’re looking to travel over grass, gravel, sand, roots, or anything but smooth pavement. The stroller will hold up fine, but it might be a bit of a struggle.
If I were considering the Twin Triumph, I’d definitely take a look at the Zoe XL2 Deluxe first, which not only has a lower price but is 6 lbs lighter. Check them both out and if you have any questions email me and I’ll happily answer (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Daddy 5-Point Review
Ships fully assembled, because who has the time for assembling anyways? You’re spoiling us, Maclaren.
This sporty and stylish twin stroller is surely nice to look at! It is after all a quality stroller, from a recognizable brand that’s been around for years. It comes in black/charcoal, midieval blue/silver and less commonly, Indigo.
The seat is large and comfy for the little ones, and it does recline enough for him/her to take a nap. (not completely flat though) It also has a basic leg rest and a pocket in the back of each seat that can easily hold a few beers (just kidding, not really). The storage basket beneath each seat is medium-sized but has a small opening, making it a little hard to stuff a diaper bag in there.
Ease of opening and Closing
Opening is quick and easy, while closing is a two-handed process that is done with your foot, so it’s best if you’re not wearing sandals. The stroller doesn’t stand on its own but it has an automatic lock. It is easy to shut, so long as you don’t mind bending down to lock it every time. Here is an image of it fully folded and locked.
The wheels are small and at their best on smooth surfaces, perfect for the mall or an airport. The Twin has the dual front wheel design which is common for double umbrella strollers, but with with 6 wheels in front you get a lot of reverberation and bumpiness when pushing this around on uneven surfaces. Given the poor shock absorption, I will say the Twin Triumph does steer and turn very well. Maneuverability is super good. Also, the brakes are a really great feature adding to it’s overall functionality. They’re smooth to set and release, and are sandal-friendly. I’m a little torn with the Maclaren because it is a high quality manufacturer, but the wheels and suspension just don’t allow for this stroller to function at that same high level. Maybe I’m being hard on Maclaren because I like them as a brand.
